Who is Flite |

Gerry McSorley (Marty’s brother) decided in 1993 that he had had enough. To him, hockey skates available to Canadian hockey players were not built with enough quality to justify the prices they were sold for. At the time, most brands got their hockey skates manufactured in the Czech Republic, so Gerry took the trip. He learned about the manufacturing process and was even able to find an independent factory to bring his ideas from design to prototype. It was on the trip back however, that the name Flite Hockey was coined. Gerry’s passion for hockey and his fascination for airplanes was the spark that would be the beginning of a great adventure. The skate that was designed on that trip became the first product from the company and was known as the Flite 9000. To get some critical input, the first twelve pairs produced were distributed to several high level hockey players. The word was good Gerry left his job and founded Flite Hockey. Since 1993, Flite Hockey has grown tremendously and now offers a complete line of ice and inline hockey skates, goalie equipment, hockey gloves, pants, sticks and equipment bags. Business grows each and every year and players who try Flite usually don’t go back. That’s the Flite advantage. Hockey is an expensive game. Gerry knows this as he grew up with six brothers and three sisters. He became committed to offer the best products at the best prices without giving up on protection or durability. “Flite does not pay NHL players to wear our skates or products but many still do. That says a lot about Flite equipment. What you see on the shelves is what the players are wearing.” Flite products speak for themselves. Try on some skates, gloves or any other product they make and you’ll find out what it feels like to have hockey gear that performs and is designed better than anything available out there. This is possible because Flite saves money by not dishing out high priced endorsements to pro players. The savings go where they belong; in the customer’s pockets and in forever improving the products available. Flite isn’t interested in research and development that happens inside a meeting room. Instead it happens on the ice, where the results of these efforts belong. |
